Abstract
The conference, which will take place in Accra, Ghana, in March 1988, will provide an educational and planning forum for participants from countries where the disease is endemic. Objectives are to: (1) review the status of dracunculiasis (occurrence, distribution, surveillance, control, and socioeconomic impact) and the status of control efforts via primary health care and water/sanitation projects; (2) facilitate the development/strengthening of national plans of action in endemic African countries; and (3) publicize the extent and deleterious effects of the disease and the opportunities for eliminating it.
