Abstract
Confecciones El Pedregal, a company operating in El Salvador for over 22 years, adopted its HIV Workplace Policy on December 16, 2011. The policy aims to provide a work environment where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, free from discriminatory practices, including harassment and reprisals. The company committed to promoting equal work opportunities, prohibiting discriminatory practices based on various characteristics, and maintaining confidentiality of employees' HIV-related information. The policy implementation involved disseminating the policy at all levels of the company and providing copies to employees who requested them. A survey was developed to assess employees' knowledge of HIV, with the goal of establishing a permanent information program. This program is implemented through the business clinic, loudspeakers, and information materials, such as brochures, with strategic HIV information. Additionally, a program to provide condoms and promote a culture of prevention is being implemented, as well as a program to hold personal and confidential HIV testing and counseling campaigns for employees who request them.
