Abstract
The activity aims to promote healthy, non-violent relationships among intimate partners, adolescents, and their parents, as well as adolescents and youth. The program targets 5,000 people in 16 suco (villages) in three Administrative Posts in Covalima municipality. The activity has achieved several milestones, including the training of 44 youth club leaders in a Training of Trainers (ToT) for IMPACT+ modules. The ToT equipped youth clubs' leaders with knowledge on the IMPACT+ project model, improved their capacity and facilitation skills, and prepared them for mobilizing the youth club members in actions and awareness initiatives for improving gender norms and relationships in their communities. In coordination with the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion (MSSI), the activity team conducted a child protection awareness-raising activity for 41 health workers and 19 PSF (Promotor Saude Familia/Health Volunteers) in three Administrative Posts. The team also conducted a one-day workshop in each administrative post for Faith and Community leaders to promote social behavior change and strengthen the informal GBV response mechanism. The activity has also conducted training on ending GBV and promoting Gender Equality (GE) for 119 parent clubs' members. The training was facilitated by the Chief of Vulnerable Person Unit (VPU), Mrs. Amelia de Jesus Amaral, and received positive feedback from participants. Many participants expressed that they had never participated in a training on ending GBV before and appreciated the opportunity to learn more in the future. The activity has also made progress in implementing IMPACT+ modules, with 41 youth leaders completing the training for modules two, three, and four. The training focused on topics such as understanding the context of their community, evaluation and reflection on issues, and mobilization in community actions. The training sessions provided an effective space for change, as youth leaders from different villages came together, improved relationships, and established mutual respect. The activity has also observed significant personal change in attitudes and behaviors among some male youth leaders who were part of rival martial groups in the past. The sessions provided by the activity have helped them to put aside their differences and past rivalries and establish mutual respect. The youth leaders have committed to implementing IMPACT+ activities for the clubs' members in their villages. The activity has also made progress in achieving its milestones, with four milestones achieved to date and one additional milestone submitted and being revised for resubmission in the next reporting period. The activity has also commenced the sixth milestone, Training for faith leaders, which will be submitted by the delivery date of July 31, 2021. The activity has a strong focus on promoting healthy relationships and preventing GBV, particularly among adolescents and youth. The activity has made significant progress in achieving its objectives and has a strong commitment to continuing its efforts to promote healthy relationships and prevent GBV in Timor-Leste.
