Abstract
The workshop aimed to prepare selected CVP staff members to serve as trainers for the CSAid course. Participants had taken and/or served as trainers for the previous iteration of the CSAid course and/or had significant expertise in conflict sensitivity. The 2-day in-person workshop focused on sharing participants' prior experiences as trainers, exploring techniques for engaging adult learners, introducing the CSAid blended course design, reviewing course materials, and discussing the CSAid course evaluation process. Participants delivered sections of the course, received feedback from fellow participants and trainers, and engaged in self-assessment. The workshop's design provided modeling of sessions, allowing participants to practice facilitating CSAid sessions through Teachbacks. The ToT was well-received, with 100% of participants strongly agreeing or agreeing that the design of the sessions contributed to their learning experience and that they feel confident applying what they learned back on the job. Moreover, 89% of respondents strongly agreed or agreed that they were satisfied with the CSAid ToT and would recommend it to colleagues. The facilitation was positively received, with 100% of respondents being very satisfied or satisfied with the facilitators' effectiveness in facilitating responses to comments and questions. The workshop was compressed from 3-4 days into 2 days due to time constraints. The CDAT team remained flexible, with a team member stepping into the facilitator role when another team member shifted to a virtual role. Participants brought a high level of expertise to the course, contributing to current course design tweaks and revisions. Respondents appreciated the facilitators' flexibility and exposure to best training practices, suggesting improvements for future versions of the ToT, including holding a run-through of the course before the ToT and providing more opportunities for participants to engage with the course material. Based on participant feedback, facilitator feedback, and post-event reviews, CDAT recommends the following adjustments for future CSAid ToT workshops: * The ToT should be three days long to decrease the intensity for participants and provide more robust Teachbacks, including more in-depth feedback and coaching from facilitators on facilitation techniques. * CVP should consider holding a course design meeting with subject matter experts (SMEs) and requiring potential participants to take the CSAid virtual course before participating in the ToT. * Future ToTs should be held in a larger space and/or with smaller rooms available for breakouts, providing facilitators with more space to demonstrate spatial elements of facilitation and offering space for small group discussions. * CVP should share the facilitator experience level of participants with CDAT, and participants can be grouped accordingly. * The facilitator team should consider having the CSAid course slides printed and available for participants on Day 1. The CSAid ToT post-event report includes an evaluation summary, which presents information on the respondents' demographic data, satisfaction with the course, and perceived competency in identifying the core components of the CSAid course. The report also includes an agenda for the 2-day workshop and a course evaluation summary, which provides information on the respondents' answers to questions requesting feedback on the CSAid ToT.
