Abstract
Removal of older versions of PipeLine is the first step in the installation process. This involves uninstalling any existing versions of PipeLine from the computer. The uninstallation process can be initiated by accessing the Start Menu, navigating to the Control Panel, and selecting Add/Remove Programs. The alphabetical list of programs on the computer should then be scrolled through to locate any version of PipeLine, which should be removed first. Following the removal of older versions, PipeLine 4.0 can be installed by inserting the CD into the CD drive or by double-clicking on the file with the extension “.exe” in the Winzip file downloaded from the USAID | DELIVER PROJECT website. The installation process will guide the user through the necessary steps. PipeLine 4.0 installs to the location C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/PipeLine, although this location can be changed during the first step of the installation process. Previous versions of PipeLine installed to C:/Program Files/PipeLine. In addition to installing PipeLine 4.0, Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack must also be installed for the software to operate. This service pack is necessary even if the user is running a different version of Microsoft Office, such as Office 2007. Installing the service pack will not cause the version of Office to revert to Office 2003, but rather supplies the Microsoft Access Runtime module required for PipeLine to function. The service pack can be found on the CD in the folder “Office Updates” or by accessing the Microsoft website using the provided link. The service pack is available in four languages: Arabic, English, French, and Spanish. The user should select the language that is most appropriate for their operating system. For example, if the user is running a copy of Microsoft Windows in Spanish, they should install the Spanish copy of the service pack. The service pack can be accessed by opening the “My Computer” window on the desktop, right-clicking on the CD drive, and selecting “Open” from the pop-up menu. The folder “Office Updates” contains the service packs, which can be found inside this folder.
