Abstract
The MOH provides preventative and curative health services, carries out a regulatory and monitoring role on health and safety of citizens, and optimizes resources through efficient partnership with concerned parties within a comprehensive health policy. The MOH's core values include respect for beneficiaries and service providers, partnership, excellence, justice, quality, commitment to professional ethics, integrity, and integrity. The Ministry's vision is to provide a healthy community within a leading comprehensive health system ensuring equity, efficiency, and high-quality health services at the regional level. The mission is to provide preventative and curative health services and carry out a regulatory and monitoring role on health and safety of citizens with high quality, and with the optimal use of resources and efficient partnership with concerned parties within a comprehensive health policy. The MOH has a rich history, with the first MOH established in 1951. The health boom developed in Jordan in 1951, and the first nursing college was established in 1953. The Central lab for medical tests was established in 1953, and the doctors' syndicate was established in 1954. The first health insurance system was established in the Kingdom for the armed forces in 1963, and the first civil health insurance system was applied by the MOH in 1965. The faculty of medicine was established at the University of Jordan in 1965, and Al Hussein Medical City was inaugurated in 1973. The faculty of pharmacy was inaugurated at the University of Jordan in 1980. The MOH provides health care to all clients through various facilities, including health centers, hospitals, and hospitals with a capacity of 7,000 beds. The MOH undertakes all health affairs in the Kingdom, including maintaining public health by offering preventative, treatment, and health control services. The MOH also organizes and supervises health services offered by the public and private sectors, provides health insurance for the public, and establishes and controls the management of health education and training institutes and centers. The MOH's strategic objectives include improving the quality and safety of health care services and ensuring their continuity, contributing to curbing the spread of non-communicable diseases, enhancing reproductive health services, and developing the infrastructure of primary and secondary health care institutions. The Ministry's primary health care principles include providing accessible, comprehensive, and high-quality health services to all citizens, regardless of their geographical location or socio-economic status. The MOH also provides various types of health services, including preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services. The MOH has a wide range of job roles, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and administrative staff.
