Abstract
The project's goal is to make it easy and equitable for people to seek out relevant information, share evidence and best practices, and apply learnings to their context. This is because programs improve when people have practical knowledge at their fingertips. The project's approach is centered on behavior, drawing on the fields of behavioral science and design thinking to inform its work. Knowledge SUCCESS listens to the needs of FP/RH professionals and has identified several key areas where they want to see improvement. These include having access to information on what works, with details, and learning from others' failures to avoid repeating mistakes. Professionals also want to be able to share their experiences and lessons from countries with similar demographics, norms, cultures, and health systems. To address these needs, Knowledge SUCCESS has developed several knowledge innovations. One of these is People-Planet Connection, a single place to search for and find resources, tools, and events related to population, environment, and development (PED), including health. This platform is available in multiple languages and allows users to connect with each other and seek and provide knowledge on PED/PHE programming. Another innovation is Learning Circles, an online series that addresses the need for locally-relevant knowledge. This highly interactive program guides mid-career FP/RH professionals through discussions on what works and what doesn't in program implementation. Each cohort is limited to 30 participants and focuses on shared experiences from the same region. Knowledge SUCCESS has also developed The Pitch, an annual series of regional competitions to find and fund innovative solutions to common knowledge management (KM) challenges in FP/RH. Four KM Champion Innovators are awarded up to USD $50,000 each to implement innovative ideas for FP/RH programming. The result is local champions with the credibility and commitment to establish lasting practices of learning, collaboration, and reflection at all levels. In addition to these innovations, Knowledge SUCCESS manages established knowledge products that are in consistently high demand among FP/RH professionals. These resources include Global Health: Science and Practice, a free, peer-reviewed online public health journal that includes a range of global health topics and cross-cutting issues. The project also supports the Family Planning: A Global Handbook for Providers, a comprehensive reference on family planning methods and related topics. Furthermore, Knowledge SUCCESS manages the KM Training Package, a comprehensive collection of knowledge management resources and training materials. FP Insight is another knowledge innovation developed by Knowledge SUCCESS. This website allows FP/RH professionals to discover and organize their favorite resources. FP Insight is available in 21 languages and designed for easy use by anyone, anywhere. Users can save resources to FP Insight as posts and collections, and newsfeeds personalize updates for users, who can download HTML articles onto their computer for offline reading later. Overall, Knowledge SUCCESS is committed to delivering game-changing knowledge solutions that support the work of FP/RH professionals worldwide. By listening to their needs and developing innovative solutions, the project aims to improve programs and outcomes in family planning and reproductive health.
