Let's Read! Pupil's Book English Primary 2 Term One

Pupil's Book for Primary 2 is an early grade reading material developed for primary teachers and pupils in Nigeria. The book is made possible by the support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Northern Education Initiative Plus program. The book is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, allowing users to copy, distribute, transmit, and adapt the work as long as they attribute or credit the original author or illustrator. The book is designed to promote the ability to read, particularly in the target States of Bauchi and Sokoto. It is based on the National English Studies Curriculum, which emphasizes the development of reading skills in pupils, including phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary acquisition/grammar, fluency, comprehension, and concept of print. The book provides opportunities for pupils to apply what is taught and demonstrate the skills learnt, as well as daily and weekly review of lessons. The book is part of a comprehensive reading program that includes a Teacher's Guide. The program is based on global best practices and incorporates the expert advice of many state and national education English experts. The program aims to improve the capacity of teachers to deliver effective reading instruction in the early grades, particularly in the target States of Bauchi and Sokoto. The Deputy Governor/Hon. Commissioner of Bauchi State, His Excellency, Eng. Nuhu Gidado, expressed his appreciation for the initiative and commitment to support the production and distribution of materials to schools and the professional development of primary teachers. He emphasized the importance of all stakeholders playing their part in strengthening the foundation of the education system. The book is designed to be used every day to help pupils learn in schools, and teachers are encouraged to ensure that every pupil has a free copy of the book. The parents or guardians' roles are to help pupils at home every day with their reading and writing practice, ensuring they attend school every day and always get to school on time, and helping to nurture their love of reading.
