Abstract
The Foundation for Education with Production (FEP) will be the implementing agency. As a prelude to establishing a half-academic/half-work training center in the Central District, FEP will mount two 3-week pilot permaculture training courses at Thuto le Tiro, an experimental rural polytechnic school near Serowe. Each course will be conducted for 50-60 participants from both the public and private sectors, including personnel from the Serowe Brigades, Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) District Office and extension staff, and selected farmers/rural dwellers. Key resource individuals (e.g., PCV"s, World University volunteers, MOA staff) will contribute to the project. The experience gained from this pilot training program will be used to redesign the permaculture curriculum for incorporation into the programs of Thuto le Tiro and, possibly, of the Ministry of Education"s junior and senior secondary schools.
