Abstract
Agency for International Development (USAID). The program aims to provide scholarships to students from Egypt to pursue higher education in the United States. The program was initially awarded in 2010 with funding for 150 scholarships, and subsequent modifications in 2011 provided additional funding for 50 additional scholarships. The program has a diverse student body, with students representing all 27 governorates of Egypt and two former governorates. As of the current reporting period, a total of 142 students from Cohort 1 and 2 are enrolled or have recently graduated from the program. The breakdown of students by governorate and gender is as follows: Alexandria has 9 students, with 3 males and 6 females; Assiut has 11 students, with 6 males and 5 females; Aswan has 11 students, with 4 males and 7 females; and so on. The program has a strong focus on academic performance, with students demonstrating significant improvement in their academic skills. The Bridge Year Program, which is a key component of the program, provides students with a suite of essential skills, including English language, computer, research, and study skills. The program has also placed students at various universities, including the British University in Egypt (BUE) and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT). The program has a total of 50 students in Cohort 3, who completed the Bridge Year Program in June 2014 and began their undergraduate studies in September 2014. The breakdown of students by governorate and gender is as follows: Alexandria has 0 students, with 0 males and 0 females; Assiut has 1 student, with 1 male; Aswan has 3 students, with 1 male and 2 females; and so on. The program has also placed students in various internships, with a total of 29 students in Cohort 3 and 26 students in Cohort 4 participating in internships. The program has also provided students with opportunities for leadership development, with students participating in leadership workshops and enrichment activities. The program has a strong focus on monitoring and evaluation, with regular reporting and assessment of student performance. The program has also established a system for tracking student progress and outcomes, with a focus on measuring the impact of the program on student academic performance and career outcomes. The program has a total of 142 students in Cohort 1 and 2, with a breakdown of 51 females and 46 males. The program has also placed students in various universities, with a total of 29 students in Cohort 3 and 26 students in Cohort 4 placed at BUE and AASTMT. The program has also provided students with opportunities for leadership development, with students participating in leadership workshops and enrichment activities.
