Abstract
The program is implemented by the Institute of International Education (IIE) and is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The program aims to increase access to higher education for students from underrepresented groups in Egypt. The program has three cohorts of students, with a total of 80 students in Cohort 3. The students are enrolled in three host universities: the American University in Cairo (AUC), the Arab Academy for Sciences, Arts and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), and the American University in Cairo (AUC). The students are pursuing various fields of study, including communication, mass media, nursing, and international relations. The program provides academic and personal support to students, including English language support and career guidance. The program also offers a job readiness training program to help students prepare for the workforce. The program has a strong focus on women's empowerment, with 38% of the students being female. The program has achieved significant results, with 48 students graduating in 2020. The graduates are now pursuing careers in various fields, including nursing, communication, and international relations. The program has also increased the number of students with disabilities, with 11 students with disabilities in Cohort 3. The program has a strong focus on community service, with students participating in various activities, including volunteer work and internships. The program also has a strong focus on leadership development, with students participating in leadership training and mentorship programs. The program has also established a strong network of alumni, with graduates from previous cohorts serving as mentors and role models for current students. The program has faced challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected the program's ability to implement its activities.
