Abstract
This vision places people at the center of immunization, including zero-dose and under-immunized children, their caregivers, people who influence immunization-related behavior, and older age groups who are increasingly eligible for vaccination. M-RITE's strategy for achieving its vision focuses on overcoming entrenched obstacles to immunization that affect these groups and challenges introduced by the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative will strengthen the planning, delivery, demand, and uptake of immunization services and inform policies and programs that expand access to immunization programs. M-RITE will provide targeted technical assistance and capacity development assistance to USAID focus countries, local organizations, and existing in-country programs. The initiative has four identical results and intermediate results (IRs): Result 1, Access to and use of evidence-based, high-quality MNCH/FP/RH information, services, and interventions scaled-up and sustained; Result 2, Capacity of host country institutions, local organizations, and providers to deliver evidence-based, high-quality MNCH/FP/RH services improved; Result 3, Adaptive learning and use of evidence in MNCH/FP/RH programming through sustained host country technical leadership increased; and Result 4, Cross-sectoral collaboration and innovative partnerships between MNCH/FP/RH and non-MNCH/FP/RH local organizations increased. M-RITE will support countries to achieve their immunization goals within their national strategic plans for health. The initiative will provide technical expertise on global policies, guidelines, and strategies and promote sharing of best practices globally and across countries. M-RITE will focus on the global level and African region, building on work that began during project year (PY) 1. The initiative's five-year vision and strategy emphasize the importance of people-centered immunization, including zero-dose and under-immunized children, their caregivers, people who influence immunization-related behavior, and older age groups who are increasingly eligible for vaccination. M-RITE's strategy for achieving its vision will focus on overcoming both entrenched obstacles to immunization that affect these groups and challenges introduced by the COVID-19 pandemic. M-RITE will contribute to global goals in IA2030 and Gavi 5.0 through country-informed experience and inputs, as well as playing an important role in operationalizing global and regional strategies. The initiative will be a driver for change and learning to catalyze the global community to be more effective.
