Matching support grant no. DAN-5060-G-00-7032-00 with the University of Kentucky for a project entitled `international agricultural development support program"

The grant will fund four types of activities: (1) training of UK faculty in development project planning, design, implementation, and evaluation via workshops, study visits, and the development of documentation for completed projects, especially the Northwest Rainfed Agricultural Development Project in Thailand (4930308); (2) consultancies, research, and presentations on the use of minimum tillage techniques by limited resource farmers in fragile lands; (3) support for UK participation in the Farming Systems Support Project through faculty participation in the Farming Systems Research (FSR) Conference, faculty seminars on the evaluation of FSR/Extension, faculty participation in FSR field surveys, and a study of the feasibility of using Rapid Reconnaissance Survey techniques as a focus for the community development activities of Thai universities; and (4) language training for UK faculty in French, Spanish, and possibly Creole.
