Matching Support Grant is provided under project 9365060 to Iowa State University (ISU) to attract additional faculty to serve on Title XII projects overseas, with emphasis on support for the Agricultural Technology Transformation (5270282) and the Agricultural Policy and Institutional Development (5270238) projects in Peru.
1989

Abstract
The project consists of an innovative visiting faculty program, which will be in two parts. (1) Peruvian faculty will visit ISU for 2-6 month periods to conduct research, extension, and teaching activities in collaboration with and under the tutelage of ISU counterparts. Following the Impact Training concept, efforts will focus on helping visiting scholars develop new skills and new curricula in specific, high priority areas such as the evaluation of indigenous technologies, economic models of water resource allocation, rural nutrition, cooperative marketing, etc. ISU counterparts will be encouraged to help visiting scholars develop both personal and professional relationships. (2) ISU counterparts will in turn visit Peruvian universities for 2-4 weeks to provide follow-up support as well as develop contacts at both the university and host government levels; a strong orientation program at ISU will precede these visits. Peruvian faculty will reciprocate the efforts of ISU counterparts to develop professional and social contacts.
