Abstract
The program is implemented by Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC) and focuses on providing technical and vocational training, as well as life skills development, to out-of-school youth. During the period of October to December 2017, MYDev made significant progress in achieving its program targets. The total number of MYDev's technical and ALS completers increased to 16,725, which is 112% of the target. This includes 119 recent completers of the ALS and Life Skills training in Indanan. The program also reported an increase of 4% in the number of ALS completers during the first quarter of FY2018. MYDev's efforts in strengthening Out-of-School Development Alliances (OSYDA) and Partner Organizations have also been successful. The program continued to coach the eight OSYDAs through regular meetings, participation in events, and one-on-one meetings, ensuring full participation and support. Although all targets were met by the end of Year 4, the OSYDAs continue to improve their quality of services, support of out-of-school youth, and increase access to resources for MYDev Youth Networks. The program also made significant progress in increasing out-of-school youth engagement for community development. The total number of OSY enrolled in the program reached 19,866, which is 105% of the target. Additionally, 15,739 OSY were enrolled in Life Skills and Tech-Voc training, 13,599 completed Life Skills and Tech-Voc training, and 11,545 were certified in Life Skills and Tech-Voc training. MYDev's sustainability efforts are also yielding positive results. The program has trained MACFI, a technical vocational institute in Lamitan City, on Life Skills delivery, and extended a license for two regions to use the MYDev Life Skills materials with non-MYDev learners. Additionally, the program has encouraged local government units, the Department of Education, and the Technical Skills and Development Authority to incorporate the MYDev Life Skills curriculum and other tools into their form systems. The program also supported the Marawi City recovery efforts by training Marawi school administrators on conflict-sensitive education and distributing USAID-donated books and school supplies to conflict-affected schools. MYDev's communication team produced high-quality communication pieces and expanded the distribution of key program activities, including two videos demonstrating the program's successes and a series of success stories. Overall, MYDev's progress during the period of October to December 2017 demonstrates the program's commitment to improving the lives of out-of-school youth in the Philippines. The program's achievements in technical and vocational training, life skills development, and sustainability efforts are significant and will have a lasting impact on the communities served.
