Abstract
(EDC) in the Philippines. The program aims to provide out-of-school youth (OSY) with access to education, vocational training, and post-training support. During the quarter of January to March 2016, 1,966 OSY enrolled in various programs, including Life Skills, basic education, vocational training, and post-training support. The program's key accomplishment domains during this quarter include increased youth leadership opportunities, post-training support growth, VIP monitoring visits, and stakeholder coordination exchanges. Six Out of School Youth Networks were formed and registered with government labor and employment agencies, allowing access to leveraged resources. Thirty-six new OSY representatives were elected to the OSYDA in various cities, promoting OSY participation, leadership, and networking. Post-training support was also a significant focus, with 9 new OSY groups in Zamboanga and Indanan registering with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) as youth/workers associations. To date, there are 70 registered OSY groups across 8 project sites. The program's efforts aim to improve access to technical and financial assistance for OSY. The quarter also saw various high-profile events, including visits from USAID officials and EDC's President and CEO. These events provided opportunities for monitoring ongoing Life Skills trainings, attending graduations, and engaging with local stakeholders. The program's progress is a testament to its commitment to empowering OSY and promoting positive change in their communities. The cumulative number of youth beneficiaries served by the MYDev program to date is 13,404. The program's focus on youth leadership, post-training support, and stakeholder coordination exchanges has contributed to its success in providing OSY with the skills and resources needed to become self-sustaining.
