Abstract
The program aims to improve the lives of youth in Pathway 2. Module 3 of the Work Ready Now curriculum is dedicated to teaching communication skills, which are essential for effective interaction and collaboration in the workplace. The module is designed to equip participants with the skills to listen actively, speak appropriately, give and receive instructions effectively, cooperate and work as a team member, and provide good customer service. The module consists of three sessions, each with a specific focus. Session 1, "Listening and Speaking Effectively," covers the importance of effective listening and speaking skills, including non-verbal communication. Participants engage in role plays and activities to practice these skills. Session 2, "Cooperating with Others," focuses on teamwork and cooperation, including self-assessment and cooperation energizer activities. Session 3, "Customer Care," covers customer service skills, including giving exceptional customer service, communicating with customers, and resolving conflicts with difficult customers. The module includes a range of written tasks and handouts to support participant learning, including worksheets, observation forms, and role plays. The trainer's manual provides detailed instructions and guidance for facilitating the module, including preparation and materials needed. The total time required to complete Module 3 is 12 hours and 30 minutes, divided among the three sessions. The module is designed to be flexible and adaptable to the needs of the participants and the context in which it is being implemented. The USAID Youth Advance program recognizes the importance of effective communication skills in the workplace and has designed Module 3 to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their careers. By focusing on listening, speaking, cooperation, and customer service, the module provides a comprehensive approach to communication skills that will benefit participants in their personal and professional lives.
