The SSN Infrastructure Recommendations document outlines the infrastructure requirements for the SSN deployment plan.
2009 · 22 pages

Abstract
The plan involves the deployment of various servers, including application servers, database servers, middleware servers, and archive servers. The servers are categorized into different roles, such as Active Directory Domain Controller, DNS Server, DHCP Server, Backup Server, Anti-virus Server, SharePoint Server, and MIS Application Server. The document highlights the need for a second Active Directory Domain Controller to be configured on one of the existing servers located at the headquarters in order for Active Directory to function correctly. Additionally, the existing Baghdad Pilot Domain Controller needs to be joined to the headquarters domain. The servers are also required to be configured with specific software, including MS SQL Server, SharePoint, and MS ISA. The WAN requirements and recommendations section of the document outlines the bandwidth requirements for the SSN deployment plan. The calculation considers various factors, including the number of supporting documents, new family applications, and application changes. The minimum recommended bandwidth requirements for the SSN deployment plan are 4mbps download and 2mbps upload for MoLSA, and 1mbps download and 2mbps upload for all other support sites. The document also explores various solutions for meeting the WAN requirements, including fiber, microwave, radio, frame relay, and satellite internet. However, satellite internet access is proposed as the recommended solution due to its ability to decentralize the network and tolerate network outages. The proposed solution involves the use of DVB modems, routers, and switches to connect the various support sites to the central network. The physical network design recommendation section of the document outlines the proposed network architecture, which involves the use of VSAT technology to connect the support sites to the central network. The document also highlights the need for data centers and access closets to be installed at each support site to house the network equipment. The document concludes by outlining the minimum bandwidth requirements for each support site, including MoLSA, Baghdad (Pilot), and all other support sites. The recommended bandwidth requirements are 2mbps upload and 1mbps download for all support sites, except for MoLSA, which requires 4mbps download and 2mbps upload. The document also highlights the need for the switches identified in the network design to be the same switches used for the servers and workstations.
