McCluskey, Delbert; Aquino, Maximo · 1986
Abstract
PES covers the period 7/81-2/86 and comments on - but does not summarize - an unattached special evaluation (PD-AAT-442). The evaluation proved a useful exercise. As a result of it, both USAID/DR and the GODR are reconsidering the project implementation plan, and the GODR is restructuring its Subsecretary of State for Natural Resources. Also, both A.I.D. and GODR are seeking ways to involve the private sector more fully in the planning and implementation of project activities. Action decisions are to: (1) replace the soil erosion control strategy with a broader strategy of natural resource protection and management; (2) institutionalize MARENA with SURENA (unidentified acronyms); (3) withdraw MARENA from the Nizao watershed; (4) implement the allocation of MARENA resources by SURENA; (5) reprogram project funds; and (6) extend the project to 7/88.
