Abstract
The initiative was implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources, the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board, and other stakeholders. The initiative focused on three main components: (1) agricultural productivity improvement through the introduction of new technologies and practices, (2) market access improvement through the development of market infrastructure and the facilitation of market linkages, and (3) capacity building of farmers and other stakeholders through training and extension services. The initiative was implemented in 15 districts of Rwanda, with a total of 2,500 farmers participating in the program. The farmers received training in sustainable agriculture practices, including composting, crop rotation, and irrigation management. The initiative also provided support for the establishment of demonstration plots, which showed significant yield improvements when applying the recommended practices. The initiative was supported by USAID's Food Security Program, which provided funding for the implementation of the program. The program was implemented by a consortium of local and international organizations, including the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board, the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources, and the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
