Abstract
This program equips Peer Leaders with the skills needed to support their peers as they strive towards their employment and livelihoods goals. Peer Leaders will represent USAID Youth Advance in their community, serving as role models and advocates for their fellow youth. The program's goals include organizing and leading weekly meetings for up to 6 months, leading a group of up to 25 youth from the Work Ready Now training program, and sharing brief updates with USAID Youth Advance on the different meetings. Youth set weekly goals for themselves and take steps to reach them, with a focus on finding a job or growing a small business. Peer Leaders encourage youth to start or improve their self-employment opportunities and improve their chances of getting a job. Peer Leaders are expected to lead by example, serving as role models for their peers. They will facilitate group meetings, provide encouragement, and support their peers in achieving their goals. The program aims to equip youth with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their employment and livelihoods pursuits. The Peer Leader Guide is a resource for everyone involved in the program, including Peer Leaders and their peers. It provides a framework for the program's goals, agendas, and philosophy, ensuring that all participants are on the same page. The guide includes a basic meeting agenda, 12 weekly meeting agendas, and annexes that provide additional resources and information. The program's structure includes weekly meetings, which will be led by Peer Leaders. These meetings will focus on various topics, including personal goal setting, community mapping, work observation, informational interviews, and growing a business. Peer Leaders will use the included agendas to guide their meetings and ensure that all participants are engaged and supported. Throughout the program, Peer Leaders will be expected to maintain regular communication with USAID Youth Advance, providing updates on the progress of their groups and any challenges they may be facing. This will enable USAID Youth Advance to provide ongoing support and guidance to Peer Leaders and their peers. The Peer Leader Guide is a comprehensive resource that provides a framework for the Peer Leader Group Accompaniment Program. It outlines the program's goals, expectations, and structure, and provides Peer Leaders with the tools and resources they need to support their peers in achieving their employment and livelihoods goals.
