Module 5: Finding and Keeping Work - Participant's Handbook

The program aims to improve the life of youth in Pathway 2. The program is implemented in partnership with various organizations, including the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Labor, and Ministry of Health, as well as private sector and youth-serving organizations. These partners contribute to the adaptation of the curriculum and provide valuable insights to ensure its effectiveness. Module 5 of the curriculum, titled "Finding and Keeping Work," is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to secure employment and maintain a job. The module objectives include explaining civic engagement, consulting with community stakeholders, identifying existing resources and opportunities, and introducing oneself to potential employers. The module includes a pre-module self-assessment survey, which helps participants identify their strengths and weaknesses in areas such as civic engagement, prioritizing community needs, and finding employment. The survey is designed to be completed at the beginning and end of the module to track progress and identify areas for improvement. The module also includes a range of written tasks and handouts, such as worksheets, handouts, and a participant's handbook. These materials provide participants with practical exercises and examples to help them develop their skills and knowledge in areas such as writing a job application letter and CV, responding to questions during a job interview, and demonstrating good behavior at work. One of the key organizations featured in the module is UMOVEMENT, a Liberian not-for-profit organization that operates innovation-focused schools and implements livelihoods programs for young adults. UMOVEMENT's mission is to put an end to educational and employment poverty traps in Liberia by providing access to education and skills training. Another organization mentioned in the module is The Advancing Youth Project, a five-year initiative launched in 2012 by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in partnership with Liberia's Ministry of Education. The project aimed to increase young people's access to basic education and work-ready skills, particularly in areas such as food preservation, snail rearing, and basket weaving.
