Abstract
The project, titled "Implementation of Sustainable Productive Activities in the Communities of Dureno, Dovuno, and the Parish of Sevilla and their Surrounding Areas," aims to reduce pressure on the forests by promoting sustainable activities. The project has five components: technical assistance, improvements in fincas in agroforestry systems of cacao and coffee, support for commercialization, promotion of community projects, and implementation of model farms. The first three components are implemented in the three intervention zones, while the last two components are implemented only in the Cofán communities. The technical assistance component is closely linked to the finca improvement component, with which it is complementary to achieve specific objectives to improve productivity in the fincas. This component is executed with a strong workload and presence in the communities by the technical team and participating families in established spaces. The technical assistance component has several key activities, including the design and implementation of the training plan, which is linked to a proposal for agricultural extension. The training plan includes topics such as the use and management of biopreparatives, pruning, recipes and grafting, soil recovery, agroforestry systems, and disease management in cacao and coffee. The project's implementation is divided into several phases, with a strong focus on community participation and technical assistance. The project's objectives are to improve productivity in the fincas, reduce pressure on the forests, and promote sustainable activities. The project's implementation is expected to have a positive impact on the communities, with improved productivity in the fincas, increased income for participating families, and reduced pressure on the forests. The project's success will depend on the effective implementation of the technical assistance component, the finca improvement component, and the commercialization component. The project's geographic focus is on the Sucumbíos Province, Ecuador, with a strong emphasis on the Cofán communities. The project's context is characterized by a high level of poverty and limited access to markets and technical assistance. The project's recommendations are to continue the implementation of the technical assistance component, the finca improvement component, and the commercialization component. The project's success will depend on the effective implementation of these components and the continued participation of the communities.
