Abstract
The project partnered with Imperial Health Sciences and MEBS Global, LC to warehouse and distribute health commodities for the Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service. The commodities were procured with USAID funds and sent to regional medical stores and teaching hospitals on a regular basis. The commodities included malaria commodities worth US$4.5 million, family planning commodities worth US$1.4 million, and nutrition commodities worth US$820,000. The distribution process involved the receipt of USAID-procured health supplies, storage with private sector partners, and submission of reorders by the Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service for regional medical stores and teaching hospitals. Quarterly distributions were made to these facilities. The distribution process was reviewed to inform the next round of distribution. Commodities were distributed to regional medical stores and teaching hospitals from May 2015 to June 2016. The distribution of commodities was a critical component of the project, ensuring that health facilities had the necessary supplies to provide essential health services to the population. The partnership between the Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service, Imperial Health Sciences, and MEBS Global, LC was instrumental in ensuring the successful distribution of health commodities.
