Abstract
The project aimed to establish a process for the implementation of REDD+ SES in the region. The project began with the establishment of a link group with state governments, which was followed by the creation of a monitoring group. However, coordination challenges were encountered, and the project team faced difficulties in establishing a facilitation team and a committee of standards. The committee's function was to interpret the REDD+ SES standard, and its members were selected through a process that involved defining and approving profiles and criteria for selection, identifying representatives of rights holders and interested actors, and preparing and publishing a call for membership. The committee's evaluation and nomination process was also a challenge, and members required induction to their roles. The committee established operational guidelines and developed a plan for sensitization and capacity building for the implementation of REDD+ SES in the Yucatán Peninsula. This plan included the construction of capacities of relevant actors with an interest in REDD+, as well as the development of printed and audiovisual products about REDD+ SES. The project also involved the interpretation of the REDD+ SES standard and its indicators for the Yucatán Peninsula, as well as public feedback on the interpretation. The final approval of the REDD+ SES standards for the Yucatán Peninsula was also a key milestone in the project. The project concluded with recommendations and steps to be taken for the implementation of REDD+ SES in the region. The project's results and lessons learned were documented in the report, which provides a detailed account of the project's activities, challenges, and outcomes. The report highlights the importance of effective governance, coordination, and capacity building for the successful implementation of REDD+ SES in the Yucatán Peninsula. The project's findings and recommendations are relevant to the implementation of REDD+ SES in other regions, and the report provides valuable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders involved in the REDD+ SES initiative. The report's annexes provide additional information on the standard and indicators, the process flow, and other project-related documents. The project's mission was to facilitate the implementation of REDD+ SES in the Yucatán Peninsula, and its objectives were to establish a process for the implementation of REDD+ SES, build capacities of relevant actors, and develop a plan for sensitization and capacity building. The project's lines of action included the establishment of a facilitation team, the creation of a committee of standards, and the development of printed and audiovisual products about REDD+ SES.
