Abstract
Luong Tu Quyen is an Associate Professor at Hà Nội University of Architecture, where she has dedicated her career to shaping the minds of young architects. Born in 1967, Quyen's childhood was marked by modest means and limited resources, but her father's influence as a painter instilled in her a passion for art. She developed her drawing and painting skills before learning to write, often creating art on used paper, newspapers, and any available surface. Quyen's academic journey was not without its challenges. Her mother initially discouraged her from pursuing a career in painting, instead encouraging her to pursue a more stable profession. A family friend, Tran Tia, suggested that Quyen enroll at the University of Architecture in Hanoi, where she could combine her creative interests with technical skills. Quyen's parents and she agreed that this was the perfect solution to their dilemma. Pursuing a degree in architecture proved to be a daunting task for Quyen. The field was male-dominated at the time, and she faced significant challenges in technical subjects like construction structures and advanced math. Despite these obstacles, Quyen persevered and excelled in her studies. She also took the initiative to learn English, a language that was not as commonly spoken in Vietnam as Russian at the time. Quyen's academic achievements and dedication to her students have earned her a reputation as a compassionate and effective educator. Her students appreciate her not only for her academic guidance but also for her concern for their personal well-being. As a testament to her impact, Quyen has inspired a new generation of architects and women in the construction industry, paving the way for others to follow in her footsteps. Quyen's story serves as a powerful example of resilience and determination in the face of adversity. Her journey from a modest childhood to becoming a respected academic and leader in the construction industry is a testament to the power of hard work and a strong work ethic. Her passion for her work and her love of country have driven her to make a lasting impact on the lives of her students and the Vietnamese construction sector as a whole.
