Abstract
The guide aims to support principals, teachers, other school staff, learners, and communities in engaging on critical topics for psychosocial support. The guide focuses on five key topics: Stress Management, Understanding Feelings and Emotions, Child's Rights, Psychological First Aid and Learner Path to Help, and Positive Discipline. Each topic is covered in a separate section, with activities and resources provided for teachers to use with learners. The guide includes two parts for each topic: Part 1, which provides activities for teachers to do together before school begins or within the first few weeks of school, and Part 2, which offers tips for teachers to lead learners through the psychosocial support activities. Part 2 also includes Learning Together lesson plans from the ALP curriculum that can be used with learners if teachers have a longer time period to facilitate activities. The guide features activities from the ALP life skills lessons and Right to Play's Play @ Home: Games for Health and Wellbeing During the COVID-19 Outbreak Manual (2020). The activities are designed to help learners develop resilience, manage stress, and understand their rights and emotions. The guide is organized into a table of contents, with each topic listed separately. The activities and resources are provided in a clear and concise manner, making it easy for teachers to use the guide in their classrooms. The guide is available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 IGO license, which allows for free use, distribution, and adaptation of the work, provided that the original authors are credited and the work is not used for commercial purposes. The guide is a valuable resource for schools in Liberia, providing teachers with the tools and activities they need to support the psychosocial well-being of their learners. By using this guide, teachers can help learners develop the skills and knowledge they need to manage stress, understand their emotions, and exercise their rights. The guide's focus on psychosocial support is particularly relevant in the context of Liberia, where learners may have experienced trauma and stress due to the country's history of conflict and crisis. By providing teachers with the resources and activities they need to support learners' psychosocial well-being, the guide can help to promote a safe and supportive learning environment. Overall, the Psychosocial Support Activity Guide for Schools in Liberia is a valuable resource for teachers and learners in the country. Its focus on psychosocial support and its use of activities and resources from reputable sources make it a valuable tool for promoting the well-being and resilience of learners.
