Abstract
The project was implemented from October 1, 2016, to September 30, 2017, and was funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The project's primary objective was to improve the employability of youth by enhancing their skills and access to workforce education and training. The project focused on three key components: Community Engagement, Institutional Capacity Building, and Access to Workforce Education and Training. Community Engagement involved the establishment of community organizations and the provision of training and capacity-building programs for local stakeholders. Institutional Capacity Building aimed to strengthen the capacity of TVET institutions to deliver high-quality training programs. Access to Workforce Education and Training involved the provision of training programs in areas such as entrepreneurship, vocational skills, and language proficiency. The project's geographical focus was on the districts of Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, and Layyah in Southern Punjab, which were identified as having the highest rates of youth unemployment. The project's lead implementing partner was Louis Berger Group, with sub-contractors and implementing partners providing support in areas such as training and capacity building. The project's anticipated results included improved employability of youth, increased access to workforce education and training, and enhanced institutional capacity of TVET institutions. Critical assumptions underlying the project's approach included the availability of resources, the commitment of local stakeholders, and the effectiveness of the project's interventions.
