Abstract
The monitoring activities aligned with the Environmental Mitigation and Monitoring Plans (EMMPs) and other relevant environmental compliance documentation. The MDRP showcased substantial compliance, achieving full adherence in 15 out of 16 defined mitigation measures. Key accomplishments include effective waste management, noise control within permissible limits, and excellent safety measures in confined spaces. The primary challenge identified was non-segregated waste in specific areas, which was promptly addressed in follow-up visits. KTDP Stage-1 demonstrated remarkable compliance, with 39 out of 42 mitigation measures fully complied with. Noteworthy progress was seen in particulate matter monitoring, noise control, and health and safety training. The main concerns revolved around partial compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) usage by management staff and land sliding risks in certain sections. These issues are under active consideration with ongoing measures for resolution. Continuous monitoring and reporting are recommended to maintain and enhance environmental compliance for both projects. Particular attention should be given to areas of partial compliance. For the MDRP, it is advised to sustain the existing high standards of environmental compliance and address any minor issues swiftly. For KTDP Stage-1, enhanced focus on PPE usage among management and staff is recommended, along with urgent measures to address land sliding risks for overall environmental compliance. The EIMS monitoring activities for the MDRP and KTDP Stage-1 projects were conducted in accordance with the EMMPs and other relevant environmental compliance documentation. The monitoring focused on key areas such as waste management, noise control, health and safety, and environmental mitigation measures. The results of the monitoring activities indicate that both projects have made significant progress in achieving environmental compliance. The MDRP and KTDP Stage-1 projects are critical components of the energy infrastructure in Pakistan, and maintaining environmental compliance is essential to ensure the sustainability of these projects. The EIMS monitoring activities have provided valuable insights into the environmental performance of these projects, and the recommendations outlined in this report will help to further enhance environmental compliance.
