Abstract
The program aims to support the country's efforts to control and eliminate tuberculosis (TB) through a range of activities, including training, infrastructure development, and community engagement. One of the key achievements of the program in the first quarter of 2016 was the launch of the Family Movement towards Indonesia Free of TB, a campaign aimed at raising public awareness about TB and promoting community involvement in TB control efforts. The campaign included a video campaign, a photo and education booth, and a blogger session, which generated significant engagement on social media platforms. The program also made progress in revising TB recording and reporting forms to align with the latest World Health Organization (WHO) definitions. Additionally, CTB supported the integration of Genexpert machines and eTB Manager using Gx Alert, although some technical issues were encountered. In terms of district planning, CTB supported the development of a zero-draft for the national lab plan, a screening model using Chest X-ray in prisons, and an SOP for the implementation of certification of general practitioners. District assessment preparations were also conducted, including the finalization of assessment tools and a small meeting of assessment teams. However, the program faced some technical and administrative challenges, including the slow introduction of Bedaquiline, delays in program implementation, and difficulties in filling crucial management positions. The program also encountered issues related to the registration of KNCV as an International NGO and the need for individual arrangements between the line ministries and donors. As of March 2016, the program had achieved 23% of its milestones, with 7 milestones met, 9 partially met, and 15 not met. The program continues to work towards its objectives, with a focus on district planning, community engagement, and technical assistance. The Challenge TB program is supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the terms of cooperative agreement number AID-OAA-A-14-00029. The program's activities are aligned with the National TB Program's approach to decentralization and the country's efforts to eliminate TB. The program's quarterly reporting indicates that significant progress has been made in the first quarter of 2016, with a focus on community engagement, technical assistance, and district planning. However, challenges remain, and the program will need to continue to work towards its objectives to achieve its goals. The program's success will depend on the continued support of its partners, including the Ministry of Health, the NTP, and international partners. The program's ability to adapt to changing circumstances and overcome technical and administrative challenges will also be critical to its success. The Challenge TB program's activities are focused on supporting the country's efforts to control and eliminate TB, with a focus on community engagement, technical assistance, and district planning. The program's progress will be closely monitored, and adjustments will be made as necessary to ensure that the program remains on track to achieve its objectives.
