Abstract
The project is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and aims to promote the development of clean energy in Indonesia. ICED II is implemented by Tetra Tech ES, Inc. and is managed by the Office of Environment at USAID/Indonesia. The project has three main components: improving the enabling environment for rapid co-investment in clean energy, accelerating the mobilization of private and public sector co-investment in clean energy, and outreach on USAID and USG inter-agency activities in Indonesia's energy sector. Component 1 focuses on increasing capacity for low emissions energy sector planning and implementation, as well as policy and regulatory reform support for clean energy project development. Task 1.1 aims to increase capacity for low emissions energy sector planning and implementation, while Task 1.2 provides policy and regulatory reform support for clean energy project development. Component 2 focuses on accelerating the mobilization of private and public sector co-investment in clean energy. Task 2.1 involves advanced project development and investment promotion, while Task 2.2 aims to increase local capacity of science, technology, innovation, and human resources for clean energy growth. Component 3 focuses on outreach on USAID and USG inter-agency activities in Indonesia's energy sector. Task 3.1 involves assisting an annual coordination forum of USG agencies engaged in Indonesia's climate change mitigation and clean energy activities, while Task 3.2 develops a system to document, track, and monitor the progress of projects assisted under previous USAID clean energy programs and the ICED II pipeline. During the fourth quarter of FY 2016, ICED II achieved several key accomplishments. In Component 1, Task 1.1, ICED II conducted a workshop on low emissions energy sector planning and implementation, which was attended by 30 participants from various government agencies and private sector companies. Task 1.2 provided policy and regulatory reform support for clean energy project development, including the development of a new regulation on renewable energy. In Component 2, Task 2.1, ICED II conducted a project development and investment promotion workshop, which was attended by 50 participants from various private sector companies and government agencies. Task 2.2 increased local capacity of science, technology, innovation, and human resources for clean energy growth by providing training and capacity building programs for local stakeholders. In Component 3, Task 3.1, ICED II assisted an annual coordination forum of USG agencies engaged in Indonesia's climate change mitigation and clean energy activities, which was attended by 50 participants from various USG agencies and Indonesian government agencies. Task 3.2 developed a system to document, track, and monitor the progress of projects assisted under previous USAID clean energy programs and the ICED II pipeline. Overall, ICED II has made significant progress in promoting the development of clean energy in Indonesia during the fourth quarter of FY 2016. The project has achieved several key accomplishments in all three components and has laid the foundation for future success.
