Abstract
The program began in May 2015 and is set to conclude in May 2020. ICED II is implemented by Tetra Tech ES, Inc. and is managed by the Office of Environment at USAID/Indonesia. The program's primary objective is to increase the use of clean energy in Indonesia, with a focus on renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydro power. ICED II works closely with the Government of Indonesia, particularly the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, to develop and implement policies and programs that support the growth of the clean energy sector. One of the key areas of focus for ICED II is the development of renewable energy generation plants. The program has supported the development of several solar and wind power projects, including a 10-megawatt solar power plant in East Java and a 20-megawatt wind power project in North Sumatra. These projects have not only helped to increase the use of clean energy in Indonesia but have also created jobs and stimulated local economic growth. In addition to its focus on renewable energy, ICED II has also worked to improve the energy efficiency of existing power plants and to promote the use of energy-efficient technologies in industries such as manufacturing and transportation. The program has also supported the development of a national energy efficiency plan, which aims to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in Indonesia. ICED II has made significant progress in achieving its objectives, with notable achievements including the development of a national renewable energy policy and the establishment of a renewable energy fund to support the growth of the clean energy sector. The program has also worked closely with local communities to promote the benefits of clean energy and to address any concerns they may have. The ICED II program has also supported the development of a national energy planning framework, which aims to ensure that Indonesia's energy needs are met in a sustainable and equitable manner. The framework takes into account the country's energy resources, energy demand, and environmental and social considerations. Overall, the ICED II program has made significant contributions to the development of Indonesia's clean energy sector and has helped to promote the use of renewable energy sources in the country. The program's achievements demonstrate the potential for clean energy to drive economic growth, improve energy security, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Indonesia.
