Protective factors for at-risk youth and former gang members were a primary focus of the GENESIS project in the January-March 2016 quarter.

Abstract
The project aimed to increase these factors through various interventions, including the establishment of Outreach Centers (OCs) and the provision of vocational training and income generation opportunities. A total of 20 OCs were established, with 693 beneficiaries served during the quarter. These beneficiaries received training and workshops in various areas, including computing, barbershop, beauty, electricity, languages, electricity, languages, and gypsum board. Additionally, 43 new volunteers supported programs directed at beneficiaries, participating in the performance of these programs. Income generation opportunities were also increased for at-risk youth and former gang members. A total of 42 OCs were officially diagnosed on March 31, with a consultancy company performing the diagnosis and logistics planning. GENESIS participated in various events, including HOPE Honduras, and supported campaigns held by AJH in the cities of Choloma and Chamelecita. The GENESIS project also received technical support from AJH, providing monitoring and evaluation, grants, purchasing, volunteer management, and technical assistance to OCs. Administrative processes continued to strengthen by standardizing various manuals, including those on grants, monitoring and evaluation, and gender. The project's objectives and details were exposed in a 4-page publication in "Hablemos Claro" magazine. GENESIS representatives were interviewed by international media, including US Today and Telemundo, highlighting the project's focus on protecting at-risk youth and former gang members. In terms of employment, 2 new youth were employed in the period of January and March, bringing the total number of employed youth to 12. Six entrepreneurs started their own businesses, with 6 micros and small businesses opening, including a beverage deposit, purses, food sales, and artistic performances. The GENESIS project's progress was also reflected in the number of beneficiaries served, with 693 individuals receiving training and workshops in various areas.
