Abstract
The program operates in Bentiu POC, Koch County, and Fangak County. In Bentiu POC, a total of 5,406 children under-five were screened for malnutrition, resulting in the admission of 655 children into the OTP program. Pregnant and lactating women (PLW) were also screened, with 3,782 PLW screened and 86 referred to other partners for MAM services. Vitamin A supplementation was provided to 550 children under five, with a cumulative total of 2,874 children receiving vitamin A at the nutrition center. Deworming drugs were administered to 477 children under five, with a cumulative total of 2,265 children receiving deworming drugs. In Koch County, a total of 1,717 children under-five were screened for malnutrition, resulting in the admission of 102 children into the OTP program and 139 children under five to the MAM program. Vitamin A supplementation was provided to 240 children under five, and deworming drugs were administered to 242 children under five. The performance indicators for MAM/TSFP in Koch County met the sphere recommended standards of >75% cure rate, but the defaulter rate did not meet the SPHERE standard of <15%. In Fangak County, a total of 5,166 children under-five were screened for malnutrition, resulting in the admission of 332 children into the OTP program. Routine medication, including vitamin A supplementation and deworming drugs, was provided to 757 children under five. The performance indicators for OTP in Fangak County fell below the sphere recommendation of cure rate <75% but met the sphere standard for death rate <10%. The program also conducted training on awareness for nutrition staff, CNVs, and lead mothers on measures to reduce the risk of cholera in the community. Routine immunization was started in two OTP sites, Kuemduok and Wichmon, with a total of 425 children vaccinated. The program is expected to continue in the next quarter, with the establishment of a stabilization center in Koch County pending security restoration. The program's performance indicators, including cure rate, death rate, defaulter rate, and non-respondent rate, are being monitored and reported. The program is adapting to the changing context, including population displacement due to violence and flooding, and is working to improve access to care and treatment for acutely malnourished children and pregnant and lactating women.
