Abstract
The project's specific objectives are to increase the utilization of quality social, health, and nutritional services, reduce the economic vulnerability of OVC households, and strengthen the capacity of district government and communities to provide support to OVC and their families. The project's geographic focus is on 32 districts in Maputo City, Maputo Province, Inhambane, Gaza, Nampula, and Cabo Delgado. COVida concluded activities in Sofala, Manica, and Zambezia at the end of FY20 and in Tete province to ANDA in April 2022. The project's consortium partners include FHI 360 as the project lead, technical lead, and geographic partner, and 18 local implementing partners (LIPs) responsible for direct implementation at the district level. During the final quarter of implementation, most activities focused on continuing services for existing beneficiaries while transitioning activities to new USAID Facilitating Impact that Lasts for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (USAID FILOVC) primes and in supporting COVida LIP closeout. Closeout ceremonies were organized at district levels to share project results and lessons learned and recognize the hard work and achievements of staff and partners at all levels. COVida's LIPs provided certificates of recognition to community cadres during these events. The project's intermediate results (IRs) include increased utilization of quality social, health, and nutritional services, reduced economic vulnerability of OVC households, and strengthened capacity of district government and communities to provide support to OVC and their families. The project's performance indicators include IR 1: Increased Utilization of Quality Social, Health, and Nutritional Services, IR 2: Reduced Economic Vulnerability of OVC Households, and IR 3: Capacity of district government and communities to provide essential preventative and protective services to vulnerable families and children. The project's monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems support the development of M&E systems for OVC and DREAMS, transitioning data and beneficiary files to LIPs, and providing supportive supervision and technical assistance for M&E. The project's data quality is a priority, and efforts are made to ensure accurate and reliable data collection and reporting. The project's management structure includes contractual matters, subaward management, LIP management, staffing changes, cost share, project deliverables, and environmental management and mitigation plan (EMMP). The project's major implementation issues include transitioning activities to new USAID FILOVC primes and supporting COVida LIP closeout. The project's collaboration with government, other donors, and stakeholders includes working with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Action, and other local partners to ensure effective implementation and sustainability of the project. The project's upcoming plans include supporting COVida LIP closeout and transitioning activities to new USAID FILOVC primes.
