Abstract
The initiative focuses on six cities: Riohacha, Santa Marta, Cartagena zone B and zone A, Quibdó, Medellín, and Bogotá in zone B. The project aims to have a significant impact on both organizations and participants through three main components: sport, income generation, and organization strengthening. The sport component will feature 10 tournaments per city, with a minimum of two teams invited for each discipline. The income generation component will have two lines of intervention: labor inclusion and strengthening of productive units. The organization strengthening component will focus on the benefit of the disabled population in social and sporty topics. Additionally, the project includes three cross-sectional components: inter-agency links, psychosocial accompaniment, and communication. The project has made progress in the administrative and Paralympic sport training of the staff during the first quarter of 2016. The recruitment of professionals for the operation has started, and the general coordinator, administrative coordinator, and professional psychosocial have been hired. These professionals worked on the elaboration of the work plan, leading the process of selection of the zone coordinators and coaches of the six cities. The project has also made contact with the new municipal administrations of the six cities, presenting the project and initiating the first approach for the signature of agreements. Meetings with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) have been held to articulate actions aimed at seeking greater benefits for the participants of SP2 and how the project contributes to IOM projects and initiatives. Joint efforts with the Unidad de Víctimas have begun to make sports a model of inclusion and repair tool. The project's indicators have shown progress in the first quarter of 2016. The number of people trained in lecturer skills has increased, and the number of service providers trained who serve vulnerable persons has also increased. The percentage of people improving their quality of life has shown a significant increase, and the number of USG-assisted organizations and/or service delivery systems strengthened who serve vulnerable populations has also increased. The project has implemented several activities during the first quarter of 2016. These activities include the formation of trainers and staff in Paralympic sports and administrative processes, the convocation of 150 new participants prioritizing women and victims of the conflict with disabilities, and the training of coaches in pedagogy of group management. The project has also provided accompaniment to participants for their integration into the National Paralympic System. The project has established inter-institutional links with national and local entities that work with the target population. The project has also managed social media and developed a monthly calendar of events. The project's communication component aims to develop a campaign of dissemination and awareness-raising on the issue of disability, using digital marketing strategies to empower the community of disabled people and the organizations that work with them.
