Abstract
The project involves the creation of a regional agricultural college to produce a professional resource base with the practical and educational experience needed to address the agricultural production problems of the Central America and Panama region. The project is authorized by the Agency for International Development (AID) and involves planned obligations of not to exceed Twenty-six Million Four Hundred Thousand United States Dollars (US $26,400,000) in grant funds over a ten-year period. The project consists of the creation of a regional agricultural college to produce a professional resource base with the practical and educational experience needed to address the agricultural production problems of the Central America and Panama region. The project agreement includes essential terms and covenants, such as the source and origin of commodities, nationality of services, and conditions precedent to disbursement. The Regional Agricultural College agrees to use its best efforts to ensure that its student body is characterized by a predominance of individuals from the Central America and Panama region. The project also includes a provision for the expansion and strengthening of CATIE's graduate and professional programs to produce a professional resource base with the practical and educational experience needed to address the agricultural production problems of the Central America and Panama region.
