Abstract
The project aimed to institutionalize a system for local authors to contribute positively to the development of domestic law education and training in Timor-Leste. The project's objective was to provide a framework for understanding the role of the legal profession in Timor-Leste and to promote a culture of professionalism among legal professionals. The TLLEP project involved a series of publications, including a book on professional responsibility, which was written by a team of students from the Universidade Nacional Timor-Leste (UNTL). The book was edited by Kathryn Blair, Loren Crary, and Rufat Yunayev, with contributions from various experts, including judges, lawyers, and educators. The book was written in Tetum, Portuguese, and English to make it accessible to a wide range of audiences, including lawyers, judges, government officials, civil society, students, and the international community. The book focuses on the concept of professional responsibility, which is essential for the development of a strong and effective legal profession in Timor-Leste. The authors argue that professional responsibility is a critical component of a well-functioning legal system, and that it is essential for the development of a strong and effective legal profession. The book explores the concept of professional responsibility in the context of the legal profession in Timor-Leste, and provides a framework for understanding the role of lawyers, judges, and other legal professionals in the country.
