Abstract
The program is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and is implemented by DAI Global LLC. The program's primary objective is to reduce threats to areas of biological significance and natural resources, thereby conserving biodiversity and protecting water delivery. To achieve this goal, the program focuses on three key areas: reducing threats in areas of biological significance and/or natural resources, increasing conservation-related income-generating activities, and increasing vulnerable populations' capacity to adapt to climate variability and change. The program's monitoring, evaluation, and learning plan (MELP) is designed to track progress towards these objectives and provide insights for program improvement. The MELP outlines the data collection and measurement strategies, data quality assessment procedures, and monitoring and evaluation for learning and performance improvement. The program's geographic focus is on Western Honduras, where it aims to support the Government of Honduras in implementing policies and procedures to promote sustainable management of ecosystems, livelihoods, and water resources. The program's implementation is expected to benefit vulnerable populations, including women-headed households, and support the development of conservation-related income-generating activities. The program's implementation is expected to take place over a period of several years, with a focus on achieving specific intermediate results (IRs) and development objectives (DOs). The IRs include reducing threats to areas of biological significance and natural resources, increasing conservation-related income-generating activities, and increasing vulnerable populations' capacity to adapt to climate variability and change. The program's MELP outlines a range of performance indicators (PIs) and data collection strategies to track progress towards these objectives. The PIs include metrics such as the number of hectares in areas of biological significance showing improved biophysical conditions, the number of households benefiting from ecosystem service conservation schemes, and the number of new employment opportunities created in conservation-related enterprises. The program's implementation is expected to be supported by a range of stakeholders, including the Government of Honduras, local communities, and private sector partners. The program's MELP outlines a range of activities and interventions aimed at promoting sustainable management of ecosystems, livelihoods, and water resources, including training programs for farmers, infrastructure development, and market linkage facilitation. Overall, the Gobernanza en Ecosistemas, Medios de Vida y Agua program is a complex initiative that aims to promote sustainable management of ecosystems, livelihoods, and water resources in Honduras. The program's MELP outlines a range of performance indicators and data collection strategies aimed at tracking progress towards the program's objectives and providing insights for program improvement.
