Abstract
The initiative connects space to village by making geospatial information useful to developing countries. SERVIR's primary goal is to provide decision-makers and scientists with the tools and information necessary to address climate change issues. In 2015, SERVIR had a significant presence in the global community, with 47 institutions worldwide demonstrating improved capacity to address climate change issues. This improvement was a direct result of SERVIR's training and information sharing efforts, which had a profound impact on the ability of these institutions to make informed decisions. A total of 341 people were trained to use tools and information, and 2894 maps were produced interactively on the SERVIR web portal. SERVIR's products, tools, and services are designed to support climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts. In 2015, the initiative developed 341 climate change adaptation and mitigation products, which were made available to decision-makers and scientists around the world. These products included maps, data, and other geospatial information that helped to inform decision-making processes. The SERVIR Applied Sciences Team played a key role in the initiative's success, with 6 projects underway in 2015. These projects focused on a range of issues, including climate change, natural disasters, and sustainable development. The team's work was supported by connections to United States Government science expertise, which helped to ensure that the initiative's products and services were of the highest quality. In terms of geographic reach, SERVIR had a significant presence in many countries around the world. The initiative's products and services were used by 58 countries, and its training and information sharing efforts benefited 22 countries. Overall, SERVIR's work in 2015 helped to establish the initiative as a leading provider of geospatial information and services to developing countries.
