Abstract
The project began in 2011 with the construction of the main dam and powerhouse # 1 & 2, which were completed on July 29, 2011. The irrigation system was 99% complete, with the remaining works including the completion of stone masonry works on the left bank canals. The project's civil, electrical, and mechanical works for powerhouse # 3 & 4 were 62% complete, with equipment manufacturing underway and scheduled to reach Skardu in October 2012. The consulting services for the Satpara Project were 85% complete. WAPDA awarded a contract for unit # 3 & 4 to M/s Descon in April 2011, and a contract for E & M works to M/s Andritz Technologies, China in June 2011. The seepage condition at the dam was monitored, with a total seepage of 45 cusecs recorded downstream of the dam on June 1, 2011. WAPDA installed improved instruments to measure seepage and filled sink holes and depressions in the reservoir area in accordance with dam safety experts' recommendations. The Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan (EMMP) was implemented, with WAPDA appointing an EHS Officer and EHS Engineer to maintain day-to-day coordination and ensure adequate implementation. A detailed report on the EMMP implementation will be submitted by Hagler Bailly within a week. The project's overall completion was monitored, with a separate report to be issued by Hagler Bailly regarding the implementation of the EMMP at Satpara Multipurpose dam project. The project's progress was reviewed, with a focus on the completion of remaining works, including the construction of roads, lighting arrangements, and railings at the dam site.
