Abstract
The program aims to support community-led development initiatives in Pakistan. As of December 2016, the program had received 618 applications since its resumption in November 2014. The majority of applications were received from Punjab, followed by KPK/FATA and Sindh. Sector-wise analysis indicates that the highest number of applications were received for education, followed by the "Let Girls Learn" initiative and civic participation. All received applications have completed desk review processes and are no longer in SGAFP's systems. In December 2016, SGAFP's Technical Evaluation Committee (TEC) reviewed one fully processed grant summary, and two fully processed grant summaries were submitted to USAID for further action. Cumulatively, USAID has approved 102 grants, while 11 applications recommended for award are in process at USAID for final decision. The program has achieved its stipulated target of 100 grants, with 56 grants closed upon completion of their stipulated outputs and milestones, and 46 grant projects at various stages of implementation. SGAFP has disbursed US $481,018 to its 18 grantee organizations, with a total of US $15.41 million disbursed against the approved amount of US $20.87 million. SGAFP staff conducted 26 monitoring visits to 26 ongoing small grants to monitor the quality of work, ensure transparency in the utilization of funds, and offer technical support to the grantees. The program has also submitted an advance request for operations and grants for the month of January 2017. The "Let Girls Learn" initiative has received 222 applications, with 21 fully processed grant summaries submitted to USAID. USAID has approved 12 grants, with 9 applications recommended for award in process at USAID for final decision. The program has disbursed US $46,946 to its grantee organizations, with a total of US $565,357 disbursed against the approved amount of US $2.16 million. Province-wise analysis indicates that the highest number of approved projects are in Punjab, followed by Sindh, KPK, and Balochistan. The majority of approved projects are in the education sector, followed by the "Let Girls Learn" initiative and civic participation.
