Abstract
The program is supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and is implemented by Deloitte Consulting LLP. The SAEP program focuses on improving regulation, planning, and procurement for energy in the region. This includes strengthening the capacity of energy regulatory authorities, promoting the use of renewable energy sources, and improving the efficiency of energy systems. The program also aims to enhance energy access for rural and underserved communities, particularly in the areas of electrification and energy efficiency. During the reporting period, which covers April 1, 2021, to June 30, 2021, the SAEP program made significant progress in achieving its objectives. One of the key outcomes of the program was the improvement of regulation, planning, and procurement for energy in the region. This was achieved through the provision of technical assistance to energy regulatory authorities, the development of energy sector plans, and the facilitation of public-private partnerships. The program also made progress in promoting the use of renewable energy sources in the region. This included the development of renewable energy policies and regulations, the provision of technical assistance to renewable energy developers, and the facilitation of investments in renewable energy projects. In addition, the SAEP program made significant progress in enhancing energy access for rural and underserved communities. This included the implementation of electrification projects, the provision of energy efficiency training and capacity building, and the facilitation of access to energy services for vulnerable populations. The program also continued to support the development of the energy sector in the region through the provision of technical assistance, capacity building, and policy development. This included the development of energy sector plans, the provision of technical assistance to energy regulatory authorities, and the facilitation of public-private partnerships. The SAEP program also made progress in addressing the challenges and risks associated with the energy sector in the region.
