Abstract
TTEE activities focus on reforms to encourage investment and professionalization of the haulage sector, resulting in increased efficiency and lower transportation costs. The TTEE team collaborates with partners to promote reforms to policies, regulations, and practices, ultimately improving regional trade. TTEE works with Regional Partners, Governments, and other International Donor Organizations to address obstacles to trade and transportation of identified value chains. Key partners include the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the West African Monetary Union (UEMOA), the Borderless Alliance, Governments, and other International Donor Organizations. The TTEE team supports reforms to policies, regulations, and practices in order to improve regional trade. The corridor approach focuses on supporting both regional staple food trade and global value chains development in both directions. Key corridors include the Tema (Ghana) - Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) corridor, the Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire) - Bamako (Mali) corridor, the Dakar (Senegal) - Bamako (Mali) corridor, the Cotonou (Benin) - Parakou (Benin) - Fada N'Gourma (Burkina Faso) - Ouaga (Burkina Faso) corridor, and the Bama (Burkina Faso) - Koury (Mali) corridor. TTEE also supports regional initiatives beyond these corridors to promote trade and transport facilitation throughout the region. Key implementation activities aim to promote market liberalization and professionalization in the transport sector, improve road governance by supporting improved data collection, information dissemination, and advocacy, improve the regional trading environment by removing legal and regulatory barriers, support compliance with national and regional trade and transport policies and regulations, and build capacity in partner organizations to ensure sustainability of project outputs. These activities are designed to promote investment, trade competitiveness, and economic growth in West Africa. TTEE's efforts are focused on the West African region, with offices in Accra, Ghana, Dakar, Senegal, and Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The team is led by Dr. Sola Afolabi, Team Leader of the Trade and Transport Enabling Environment.
