Abstract
The project is managed by University Research Co., LLC (URC) under the terms of Cooperative Agreement Number AID-OAA-A-12-00101. The project is funded by the USAID's Bureau for Global Health, Office of Health Systems, and is supported by various global partners, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, EnCompass LLC, and the World Health Organization Service Delivery and Safety Department. The ASSIST Project focuses on several key areas, including maternal, newborn, and child health, health workforce development, and nutrition assessment, counseling, and support. The project also addresses other public health threats, such as HIV/AIDS, and provides technical leadership and knowledge management support to partner countries. In addition, the project conducts research and evaluation to inform health system strengthening efforts. During the performance period of October 1, 2017, to March 31, 2018, the ASSIST Project implemented various activities in several countries, including Africa and Asia. In Africa, the project supported activities in Cote d'Ivoire, Lesotho, Mali, Swaziland, Tanzania, and Uganda. In Asia, the project supported activities in Cambodia, India, and Indonesia. The project also supported activities in the Middle East Regional Bureau and in countries affected by the Zika virus. The project's performance monitoring report highlights several key achievements, including improvements in antiretroviral therapy (ART) client records, recently diagnosed HIV-positive clients enrolled in care, and clients alive and on ART six months after starting treatment. The report also highlights improvements in HIV-exposed infants initiated on Cotrimoxazole and in adherence to SMC quality standards. Additionally, the report notes improvements in post-operative follow-up of circumcised clients and in the number of out-of-school adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) provided with HIV prevention packages at health camps. The report also provides an analysis of costs and a performance monitoring plan for the project. The analysis of costs highlights the importance of effective resource allocation and management in achieving project goals. The performance monitoring plan outlines the project's approach to monitoring and evaluating its activities and outcomes. Overall, the ASSIST Project's semi-annual performance monitoring report provides a comprehensive overview of the project's activities and achievements during the performance period of October 1, 2017, to March 31, 2018. The report highlights the project's commitment to improving health systems in developing countries and its efforts to address key health challenges, including HIV/AIDS, maternal and child health, and nutrition.
