Abstract
The population growth rate was 1.8% in 2009, and 19% of the population resided in urban areas. The number of women aged 15-19 was 897,606, and the number of women aged 15-49 was 4,054,496. The life expectancy at birth was 62.1 years, and the crude birth rate was 25.7 per 1,000 people. The socioeconomic indicators for Cambodia in 2009 showed a GNI per capita of $2,490, and health expenditure as a percentage of GDP was 10.9%. The adult literacy rate was 73.6%, and the adult literacy rate for females was 64%. The gross enrollment ratio for primary school was 122.2%, and the gender parity index for net enrollment ratio was 0.98. Access to an improved water source in rural areas was 29%, and access to improved sanitation facilities in rural areas was 8%. The family planning indicators for Cambodia in 2005 showed a total fertility rate of 3, and a contraceptive prevalence rate of 16.4% for all women and 27.2% for married women.
