Abstract
The population growth rate was 1.1% in 2010, and the percentage of the population living in urban areas was 26% in 2004. The number of women aged 15-19 was 4,232,634 in 2010, and the number of women aged 15-49 was 25,637,431 in 2010. The life expectancy at birth was 71.9 years in 2010, and the crude birth rate was 17.3 per 1,000 people in 2010. The crude death rate was 6 per 1,000 people in 2010, and the number of live births was 1,548,685 in 2010. The GNI per capita (PPP) in Vietnam was $3,010 in 2005, and the health expenditure as a percentage of GDP was 5.4% in 2003. The number of physicians per 1,000 people was 0.5 in 1997-2004, and the adult literacy rate was 90.3% in 2004. The adult literacy rate for females was 89% in 1995, and the adult literacy rate for males was 94.2% in 1995.
