Abstract
The project, led by Dr. Albert Rouamba, aims to enhance knowledge among women of the importance of healthy diets, particularly for children under five years in the target region. Key objectives include increasing skills among women in vegetable food production and processing, and promoting the use of nutritious and seasonally available vegetables in household diets. The project's geographic focus is the Sikasso region in Mali, where discussions with potential partners, including Helen Keller International, Plan Mali, and the Malian Association of Awakening Sustainable Development, have highlighted the need to accelerate the process of setting up teams on the sites. This process is expected to commence in February 2014. Initial activities have included updating training modules on nutrition and developing new modules, as well as reviewing and revising the baseline report on consumption in the Sikasso region. Implementation of the project involves several key activities, including the validation of results from a preliminary scoping on nutrition and consumption, planning and implementing training activities for farmers in the Sikasso region, and reviewing and shortlisting candidates for the Food and Nutrition Specialist position. Additionally, the project will involve the development and signature of subcontracts with partners. These activities are expected to contribute to the project's objectives of enhancing knowledge, increasing skills, and promoting diet diversity among women in the target region. The project's timeframe is not explicitly stated, but it is mentioned that the process of setting up teams on the sites will start in February 2014. The project's geographic focus is the Sikasso region in Mali, where the target population includes women and children under five years. The project's objectives are aligned with the overall goal of improving nutrient supplies and diet diversity with vegetables in Mali. The project's implementation details are being developed in collaboration with potential partners, including Helen Keller International, Plan Mali, and the Malian Association of Awakening Sustainable Development. These partners will play a crucial role in the project's success, particularly in the areas of training and capacity building. The project's outcomes are expected to contribute to improved health and nutrition outcomes among women and children in the target region.
