Abstract
The project aims to promote government integrity in El Salvador through various interventions and activities. The project has two main objectives: Objective 1, which focuses on strengthening the institutional integrity of key government institutions, and Objective 2, which aims to enhance the capacity of civil society organizations to promote government integrity. The project is implemented by Tetra Tech DPK, a subcontractor of the USAID Government Integrity Project. One of the key expected results of the project is the strengthening of the institutional integrity of the Institute for Access to Public Information (IAIP), the Government Ethics Tribunal (TEG), the Office of Public Defenders (PGR), the Ministry of Public Works (MOP), and the municipalities. The project has also established a National Anticorruption System, which aims to coordinate the efforts of various government institutions to prevent and combat corruption. The project has made significant progress in achieving its expected results. For example, the IAIP has strengthened its capacity to receive and process requests for access to public information, and the TEG has increased its efficiency in handling cases of government ethics violations. The PGR has also improved its capacity to provide legal assistance to citizens, and the MOP has enhanced its transparency and accountability in public procurement processes. The project has also implemented various monitoring and evaluation activities to track its progress and identify areas for improvement. The project has established a reporting system to track its progress and has conducted regular meetings with stakeholders to discuss project implementation and challenges. In terms of inclusion and gender, the project has made efforts to ensure that its activities are inclusive and equitable. The project has established a gender equality policy and has implemented activities to promote the participation of women in government decision-making processes. The project has also faced various challenges and opportunities during the reporting period. One of the main challenges faced by the project is the lack of resources and capacity within some government institutions to implement the project's expected results. However, the project has also identified opportunities to leverage the resources and expertise of civil society organizations and other stakeholders to support its implementation. Overall, the USAID Government Integrity Project has made significant progress in promoting government integrity in El Salvador during the reporting period. The project has strengthened the institutional integrity of key government institutions, enhanced the capacity of civil society organizations, and promoted transparency and accountability in public procurement processes.
