USAID grant to Coordination in Development, Inc. for a program of training to meet the needs of private voluntary organizations and environmental agencies in environment areas

(CODEL) for a program to train U.S. PVO field staffs, environmental groups, A.I.D. personnel, and the Peace Corps in environmental issues related to development. CODEL will conduct 3-day workshops for field staff and project officers with laboratory experience and 1-2 day sessons for executive-level officers. The former will cover environmental issues at the core of the development process, such as erosion, health, and social well-being; the latter will cover conflicts between environment and development. CODEL will also supervise publication of environmental guidelines, based on the recommendations of a 1977 A.I.D. conference (these guidelines will be stressed in the training workshops). Contacts and activities begun at the sessions will be maintained and developed by a CODEL liaison officer.
